Company History


Parkesdale Farms company founder R.E. (Roy) Parke, Jr. emigrated from Northern Ireland to Pennsylvania with his mother, father R.E. Parke, Sr. and three brothers in 1924. The elder Parke, a farmer, continued his vocation after arriving in America.

In 1956 the R.E. Parke, Sr. and family moved to Plant City, Fl., already recognized as the winter strawberry and vegetable growing capital of the country and in short order the family had it's first strawberry crop in the ground on 10 acres.

Over the many years R.E. (Roy) Parke, Jr., wife Helen and children have through hard work and keen knowledge of productive agricultural and business practices, expanded the farm and company into hundreds of acres of the best strawberries, peppers, egg plant, cucumbers/pickles, sweet onions and cantaloupes found anywhere in the country. During the fall they are also brokers of bare root strawberry plants. Roy's son's Gary oversees a myriad of day to day farming operations. Roy's other son Bob and his wife Peggy expanded the company into packing ad cooling operations, as well as wholsale distribution of fruits and vegetables in 1995.

R.E. (Roy) Parke, Jr. a strong family man, has many awards and accomplishments to his name within the agriculture and business community and is very active in his church and community. He represents the ideals, energy and know how that makes our country great.
